So little bit of a context – I’m currently trying to hire and my work involves (unfortunately?) working with a lot of the younger crowd. It’s astonishing the number of people who’ve flaked out/ regularly shirk work, in spite of committing to it, with all its aspects and benefits, knowingly. It’s like they live in a bubble of their own where they’re always the main character. And this is when these folks are barely scratching the beginnings of their careers.

They won’t make it to meetings on time, they fail to acknowledge the decorum of a work place, mutual respect for things as basic as everyone’s time and energy. And then they feel they’ve seen everything and know better, best rather. Sometimes I do envy the guts and self-importance, tbh.

Now I know this is perhaps a story as old as time – Every generation dissing the next one, but I really wish to understand what drives this generation so it’s easier to pivot hiring strategies, if nothing more
